Which Computers Are the Best?

Category: Product Review

PCs have more power than ever before. Their evolution has enabled them to pack high-end graphics cards and eight-core processors, with some offering real-time ray tracing. Remarkably, some of these things were not possible a few years back. With that said, I have some good news. Some of the best computers currently available are more affordable than ever before. This means that you will be able to find one that suits you and your needs and one that will keep you up to date.

Which Computers are the Best?

What do I mean by best? My definition best describes a fast, diligent, versatile computer and has a reliable storage capacity. For example, you can purchase an all-in-one desktop or an amazing PC for about $900. Moreover, many of these computers are upgradeable. All you need to do is fit in new and improved components like RAM (random access memory), graphics card, and fast SSDs (solid-state drives). However, that does not wrap everything up when it comes to picking the best computer. I have gathered some of the best computers you can find on the market, prioritizing those that hit the spot between performance and price.

Dell XPS 13

The Dell XPS 13 retains everything that the Dell lovers love about the 13-inches, from the modern and powerful components that power it to the gorgeous and light design. It comes with an 8th generation Core i7 or i5 processor. The Dell XPS 13 has the reputation of being the best Windows laptop globally with its bezel-less ‘Infinity Edge' display. It comes with the Intel UHD Graphics 620 and a RAM of 8GB (expandable to 16GB). In addition, it has a beautiful optional 4k display and comes with a wide range of customization options.

The 2019 model does not come with so many improvements. However, the Dell XPS 13 does not need much improvement.  The webcam has been positioned at the top center of the screen compared to previous versions due to customer demand. Moreover, 2019's model comes with prolonged battery life. With an estimated $1,000, Dell XPS 13 is the best laptop for your overall needs.

Huawei MateBook 13

The Huawei MateBook 13 comes packing some of the latest components. It comes with a beautiful, lightweight design and a discrete Nvidia MX150 graphics card. In addition, it comes with an 8th generation Core i5 or i7 processor and internal storage of 256GB. It is a great performer but only offers 8GB of RAM, which is not upgradeable.

For around $900, you can grab yourself this 13-inch laptop. Matebook 13 offers so much but for such a low price when compared to other Ultrabook competitors. This makes it an amazing choice for the best value computer.

Dell XPS Tower Special Edition

Packed with high-end components, the Dell XPS Tower is one of the best PCs right now. With its close similarity to the PC your parents would hide underneath the desk when you were kids, the Dell XPS Tower has an unremarkable look and a no-nonsense chassis. The Tower is packed with a 9th generation Intel Core processor  i5, i6, i7, i8, or i9, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDRD VRAM) RTX 2070 graphics card and/or SSD plus a large hard drive.

It has 8GB RAM, which is upgradeable to 64GB and only averages at around $1000 in price. However, this special edition is only available in the US. You can buy the regular Dell XPS Tower and upgrade it with similar components for those in the UK and Australia. You should note that if you decide to do the latter, the option of upgrading your graphics card ends with the GTX 1060. It is a gaming PC at heart.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC

If you're short on desk space but want an excellent desktop experience, the Intel Hades Canyon NUC may be what you are looking for. Don't let its small size fool you because it boasts a speedy Intel Core i7 processor and AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH graphics. Unfortunately, this unit does not come with any operating system, memory, or storage. That means you will have to obtain those components on your own.

It has a 4GB RAM upgradeable to 64GB and can support storage from 128GB to 2TB SSD. It may not compete against a full-sized desktop, but it comes in handy when you need something that resembles a set-top box or when you are short on space. For $999, you can grab yourself this critically acclaimed best mini-PC.

Asus VivoBook S15

Although it has not been out for long, it has been considered by many to be quite a good choice due to its excellent price, great performance with a thin and light design. If you want to get a mid-range laptop that does not cause a huge dent to your pockets but still performs exceptionally, the 15.6-inch full HD ASUS VivoBook S15 is the one for you. It has a powerful Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and 8GB of RAM with fast SSD storage. As a result, it can complete any task with ease- apart from heavy end gaming. However, it goes for $500.

It has a vibrant screen. Moreover, it comes with many ports that give you the chance to connect your favorite peripherals with ease. Sadly, for a laptop, it has quite a short battery life. Also, the ScreenPad, which they have used to replace the traditional touchpad (with a touchscreen), may be difficult to operate at first.

The Surface Studio 2

Considered an artist's dream come true, the earlier version was already a game-changer for content creators and artists alike. Unfortunately, to date, the sequel is still in a league of its own. The Surface Studio 2, however, has a significant power increase, not to mention the same beautiful display and amazing functionality.  It has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics (upgradeable to 1070), not forgetting the Intel Core i7 processor. The Surface Studio 2 also has a 16GB RAM and 1TB storage capacity, both of with are upgradable to 32GB and 2TB SSD, respectively.

The 28-inch PixelSense display is breathtaking, and there is nothing like it. However, it is quite expensive (around $3500). On the other hand, it isn't easy to think of another all-in-one PC if you have the right use case.

Corsair One Pro i180

If the name Corsair One and its cool slimline design do not give you the feeling of upgrading to this latest computer, then maybe the jaw-dropping performance will. It has an Intel Core i9-9920X processor accompanied by Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics. It supports a 4x8GB DDR4-2666 RAM and 960GB SSD + 2TB HDD storage.

This computer is compelling and quiet, with more than the ability to handle your creative workload and favorite AAA games with ease. It is considered the best living room PC and goes for about $3,400. In addition, its reasonable upgradability makes it future-proof.

Apple MacBook 12-inch

This list would not be complete without the MacBook. This is one of Apple's biggest wins with its excellent performance and gorgeous design. It comes with an Intel Core M3 1.2 GHz processor with updates up to i7 1.4GHz. In addition, it contains Intel HD 615 graphics and an 8GB RAM upgradeable to 16GB.

It has a 12-inch screen and a storage capacity of 256 GB. The $1,100 MacBook does not sacrifice the thin and light design that it is renowned for. Although, at the same time, it may not be a pure, productive machine, its reputation of being one of the best laptops that you can carry anywhere without noticing remains.

Conclusion

What might be best for you might not seem worthwhile to the next person regarding computers. From the list above, each computer is known for its prowess in n performing a specific task. However, The Dell XPS 13 stands out as one of the best overall computers to have by your side. If you want something cheap to help you get around, the ASUS VivoBook can be a good fit. For many people, the biggest deciding factor is the budget they have, and the better the specifications, the more the cost.
