The most common method is the use of buttons which is straightforward. There are several types of Promethean boards. Common examples include ActiePanels 1,2, 3,4, Activepanel Nickel, cobalt, titanium, i-series and titanium pro, e.t.c. Each panel has different steps to follow.
So, how can you turn off the touch screen on the Promethean board? The next steps will cover the ways to turn off the touchscreen. Choose the one you feel works well with your model.
This type of series comes with buttons that you can turn on and off the touch functionality. On the panel, locate the touch buttons and the bottom and press them to turn the touchscreen functionality off.
ActivePanel 6 comes with buttons to turn on and off the functionality issues. ActivePanel 5 comes with a lock screen functionality located on the front part of the board. Press it when you want to disable the touch screen on your board.
The earlier versions of active panels came with a remote to control the Promethean boards. The remote has a LOCK button located at the lower parts of the remote. When you want to turn off the touchscreen functionality, you press the button on the remote to activate the settings.
This is mainly for ActivBoard 500 Pro, which has not received any upgrades. When you open your taskbar or system tray, For windows, you can locate it at the bottom corner, while for Linux and macOS, you can find it at the top corner at the right.
Click on the icon to open its Control panel, providing you with all the settings. The panel will show you all the software descriptions, from hardware, connections, projector, options, ActiveEngage2, e.t.c. On all the tabs, click on the Pens option to open several tabs.
Unmark the option that says “ Use your fingers to operate the board” under the Touch options and click on the close button. Once you are through, the touchscreen feature gets disabled permanently. To get it back, follow the same steps and tick the box again.
When using older versions of ActiveBoards like ActivBoard, an ActivHub, an ActivSlate or ActivExpression, you must update to the latest version to avoid issues like a blue screen.
